There was once a legend about a chainsaw-wielding man who attacked a village and killed several women-the kind of a tale meant to scare children. But what does one do when it happens to be real? Inspired by Agatha Christie's complex plots, Dashiell Hammett's stylishness, Oscar Wilde's wit, and Neil Simon's spoof on all mysteries, "Murder By Death," author Peter Halsey Sherwood reveals his thrilling novella. Hilarious as it is horrifying, the drawing room comedy of questionable manners rife with grisly killings is unleashed in his new publication, "The Murdery Delicious Hamwich Gumm Mystery."
This wickedly clever jewel earnestly follows the gruesome trials of Reynald and Willoughby Chalmers, the brothers who reluctantly become involved in the bloodied, spinach laden trail of an elusive murderer. The rarefied pair of witty, modern day dandies are unwittingly served as the main ingredients in a most diabolical stew. While pursuing the tortuous plot as it unfolds, with the help of the illustrious Inspector Hamwich Gumm, the murder mystery turns out to be quite a fiendish family affair indeed with many layers of family secrets revealed. Will Willoughby and Reynald escape the whole ordeal with their lives?
Sherwood explores the complications of family and the importance of exercising extreme prudence when choosing someone to love-and marry. In this book, readers will follow Reynald and Willoughby Chalmers in their hair-raising adventure and will keep them at the edge of their seats as well. Underneath the glossy veneer of this highly enjoyable read, "The Murdery Delicious Hamwich Gumm Mystery" is also thought provoking and fairly devastating, as visitors embark on a wild rollercoaster ride through tunnels of terror, murder, and the depths of family secrets.
