WASHINGTON
In many religions, only men are allowed to hold communal leadership positions, but are women actually the stronger sex when it comes to spiritual matters?
Rabbi Joseph Friedman believes that women have greater spiritual dimensions than men and that Judaism has profound feministic qualities. He maintains that the Messiah though male, originates from eight great women. His new book, "The Inside Story: Biblical Personalities" explores this and captures the inner essence of 15 Bible stories.
The book is an analysis of 15 different popular biblical personalities. Each chapter is separate and self-contained. Friedman's thesis is that the world's essence turns on the inside of everything is masterful.
Friedman hopes that readers will develop a better understanding of Judaism as well as a deeper appreciation of the role women play in the cosmic order of the world.
