The Henry Ford announced today the release of Driving America: The Henry Ford Automotive Collection, the first major book published by the organization showcasing its premier collection of automobiles. Coinciding with the yearlong activities surrounding the 150th anniversary of Henry Ford's birth, the book includes 300 stunning never-before-published images along with a foreword written by Jay Leno, an introduction from Edsel B. Ford II, and four essays from Patricia Mooradian, president of The Henry Ford; Matt Anderson, curator of transportation at The Henry Ford; Bob Casey, retired senior curator of transportation at The Henry Ford; and Mark Harmer, photographer.

Inside the book's pages are images of the historically significant vehicles that make up the Driving America exhibition inside Henry Ford Museum. From the 1865 Roper, the oldest surviving American car, to the hybrid 2002 Toyota Prius, the collection helps tell the story of how automotive innovations have changed our lives and influenced American culture.

"Driving America makes people stop and think about the choices in transportation made throughout history and those innovations that shape our landscape today," said Patricia Mooradian, president of The Henry Ford. "We don't just display the vehicles, we bring the past forward by immersing our visitors in the stories of ingenuity, resourcefulness and innovation that have made America the great country it is today."

The standard 304-page hardcover edition hits The Henry Ford bookshelves Father's Day weekend just in time for Greenfield Village's Motor Muster event on June 15-16. Guests can purchase their copy for $95.00, with a discount for members, starting June 15 and also have it signed the same day by curators Matt Anderson and Bob Casey inside the Greenfield Village store at 2 pm.

In honor of Henry Ford's 150th birthday celebration, 350 collector's edition and 150 deluxe collector's edition copies will be available for pre-sale online at http://giftshop.thehenryford.org/ starting on July 30, 2013 at 9 am. The $200 leather-bound, individually signed and numbered collector's edition features a slipcase, certificate of authenticity and signatures from Patricia Mooradian, Matt Anderson, Bob Casey and Mark Harmer. At $300, the deluxe collector's edition also includes signatures from Jay Leno and Edsel B. Ford II.
