'The DNR Trilogy: Volume 2: No Good Deed' Released Image Don W. Hill, M.D., announces the release of the second volume in “The DNR Trilogy” featuring “No Good Deed” (published by Archway Publishing). In the story, readers follow a medical student who exposes the intertwining worlds of medicine and justice while battling the dark elements that surround his daily life.

J. D. Brewster’s promising career is teetering on the edge of disaster as a consequence to the unrelenting and dehumanizing emotional abuse that he and his colleagues experience while on their clinical clerkship rotations during their final two years of medical school training. Within the framework of modern healthcare, there are dark and evil forces lurking within the encroaching shadows of moral decay which unduly influence Brewster and his colleagues to not only become callous and largely indifferent to human suffering, but also cruel and fully capable of dispensing retribution when perceived appropriate. An occult culture of vigilante law and order, known as the “clinical justice” system, becomes manifest and Brewster evolves into an avenger who willingly participates in what he believes to be righteously sanctioned punishment dispensed to those who violate the laws that constitute the very fabric of social order.

“The DNR Trilogy: Volume 2: No Good Deed” is a unique thriller that takes readers to the dark underbelly of the medical profession and the often brutal medical school experience of an antihero. Addressing the issues of modern society through the book, Hill says: “Hopefully individuals who tackle this trilogy will have an opportunity to reflect on their own complex relationships with their fellow humans who occupy this small blue orb in the Milky Way galaxy.”

About the Author
A native of Houston, Don W. Hill, M.D., FACP, graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, in 1978. After completing his medical school training at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 1982, he completed his postgraduate training in internal medicine, hematology and oncology at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque in 1987. At the time that he composed this novel, Hill had completed 30 years of medical practice that included working in multispecialty clinics, solo practice and everything in between, including academia and clinical research. As a fellow of the American College of Physicians, he is a published scholar but “The DNR Trilogy” is his first attempt at a work of fiction. Although approaching the end of his medical career, Hill completed the trilogy while working in Hawaii before returning to the mainland. A self-described “angry man safely nestled behind a superficial, amiable facade of banality,” Hill felt compelled to write this novel to make peace with God, the universe and the practice of medicine.
