JINAN, China, Nov. 12, 2018 /PRNewswire/ On November 9, the 2 nd Shandong Cultural Consumption Season & 11 th Shandong Culture and Art Festival held the closing ceremony at the Shandong Grand Theatre. Themed "gathering cultures, benefiting life", this year's Shandong Cultural Consumption Season focused on six areas: fine art appreciation, emerging fashion trends, cultural tourism, hands-on experiences with traditional crafts, appreciate of digital culture and the cultivation of humanistic literacy.

According to the The Information Office of the People's Government of Shandong Province, during the event, cultural organizations across Shandong province presented more than 10,000 culture-oriented programs, segmented into more than 120,000 episodes that were viewed, either online or in person, by 110 million spectators, and accounting for 370 million yuan (approx. US$53.2 million) in revenue. Meanwhile, the 11 th Shandong Culture and Art Festival, the 1 st "Taishan Design Cup" Cultural and Creative Design Competition, the 5 th China Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition, the 7 th Shandong International Culture Industry Fair, and the Qilu Literary Festival and 2018 Shandong Book Fair were held in various cities across the province. The 11 th Shandong Culture and Art Festival included over 20 programs, including theatrical and artistic exhibitions, large-scale cultural events and exhibits highlighting the region's intangible cultural heritage. The festival, spanning 200 days, included more than 80 opera troupes staging over 150 performances and 12 art exhibitions displaying thousands of pieces of fine art.

This year's event leveraged the latest in digital technologies, integrating both online and offline models to maximize participation. The integrated model successfully brought together all sectors involved in the preservation, creation and promotion of Chinese and Shandong culture, spanning the gamut from traditional crafts to painting, music and theatre. The success of the event is widely attributed to the cooperation between government and cultural organizations across all disciplines and at all levels - provincial, municipal and county- who joined hands to stage the many programs and activities.

At the closing ceremony, the 11 th Shandong Culture and Art Festival presented a variety of awards, including distinctions for "excellent works depicting the larger culture", "excellent operas", "excellent actors", "excellent short operas" and "excellent art works". The event ended on a high note with a performance of Dahe Kailing, a famous and presentative piece of traditional Lju which is a variety of Chinese opera that originated from the southwestern part of the province.
