Some junior and high school students dread algebra. Lacking adequate preparations, many teens dislike mathematics in general, but algebra most of all. Is it too technical? Is it too abstract? Is it useless? Or is it just too demanding? According to author Terence H. Murdock, none of these are valid reasons. They're simply excuses.

Topics in Algebra lays the foundation to prepare students, parents and teachers for success in their study of algebra. It covers brick and mortar algebra, exposing its foundations. It shows different ways to factor polynomials. It explains how to correctly evaluate algebraic expression. It provides means to properly interpret the wording of algebra problems. It shows in detail how to work representative problems in algebra and how to solve equations.

This book extends algebraic regimen to provide insight into polynomials. It shows the influence of their roots and coefficients, and how these parameters relate to each other. It discusses the second degree trinomial functions. It also expands the concept of a dimensionless point to spaces in which we find geometric figures of multiple dimensions. It analyzes the parabola and shows how its properties influence the design of antennas.

Topics in Algebra is both interesting and enlightening. It will ease concerns that students, parents and teachers have over the difficulty of algebra. Approached with proper preparations, algebra is pleasantly challenging and rewarding. Success in algebra can inspire greater appreciation of, and success in, mathematics.
