GLENS FALLS, N.Y.

Author William H. Thomas tackles the hot topic of bullying head-on with his new romance novel, "Three Fawn Moon" (published by iUniverse). Thomas, who knows the result of bullying firsthand, urges readers to consider the effects of their bullying.

"People don't seem to be aware of what is going on the other side when they bully someone," Thomas says. "They don't know how disruptive they are being."

Writing from the heart, Thomas introduces a protagonist, Bill, who is afflicted with a traumatic brain injury. Bill was inspired by Thomas' personal journey dealing with his own brain injury. Bill is lost, not able to remember friends or basic skills, until he meets Cricket, an American Indian girl.

Cricket and Bill come together through their mutual suffering of prejudices and hatred. Shunned by their classmates and bullied by their teachers, Cricket and Bill unite in friendship against the trials and tribulations of their lives to find strength, dignity and love. Bill is the only one Cricket trusts enough to reveal her real name: Three Fawn Moon.

"I want readers to care about others who are suffering," Thomas says. "To listen and understand that when they mess with someone and bad things happen, they are messing up their own progression in the eternal worlds to come."

An excerpt from "Three Fawn Moon":

"Baby Whale, was the name the owners had used to baptize this research sub. She lay in a depression, like it was sent to its watery grave by a given and not by accident. She lay on her side in about a hundred feet of water. With countless boats searching for her, she lay hidden for years, and she made not a sound. This riddle of August 1960 was right below them and had not been solved until now. Well, part of the riddle had been solved. The who and why still remained a mystery."
