Over the years, religion has been one of many basis for civil unrest and warfare due to differing beliefs. Even today, outbursts of violence in the name of religion are not uncommon.

In James Welch's new thrilling fiction novel, "The Pursuer," he brings to life the struggles of conflicting beliefs through a holy war between Islam and Christianity. In the midst of war, protagonist Michael Kintner must fight for his faith while being wrongfully accused of terrorism.

Welch's depiction of Islam and Christianity clashing, which has been occurring for centuries, disregards political myths to unveil truths behind modern conflicts of religion and probable conflicts that could arise.

"I don't think anyone can know what lengths one should go to in order to preserve their culture or religion," Welch said.

As a military pilot with several distinguished awards, Welch has an understanding of war that provides a sense of realism to his novel. He confronts the war on terrorism head on with his story of Michael Kintner.

About the author
James Welch served as a U.S. Air Force pilot for several years including three tours in Viet Nam. His diverse background also includes working as an intelligence operative, a NASA scientist and a writer. Welch holds a master's degree in Astronautics and a doctorate in Astrophysics. This is his second novel after "The Wayfarer," published in 2007. He has written several technical books. Currently, Welch resides in Divide, Colorado.
