Author David Wurtzebach presents "The Parrot Tavern" (published by Xlibris), a two act play that is a fictionalized and often comic rendering of the love triangle alluded to in Shakespeare's sonnets. The play portrays the iconic bard as an otherwise normal man who also happens to be one of the world's greatest writers.

The play revolves around love and language, showing Shakespeare confronting recognizable and very human problems, while at the same time paying homage to the power and the delight to be found in his words. It follows the playwright during his early years in London and portrays a love triangle involving him, the Lord Henry Wriothesley and the Dark Lady - all in Elizabethan English.

"WILL (to Dark Lady): My love, there is no trick, no secret. Indeed, what particulars there are, they are few in number. One, you need to play your notes with spirit, with hope. To these two you need add whate'er wit, craft, feeling you can muster. There. Now you know. No? Well, yes. There is more. A key of sorts and, ay, one with magical power does exist. But it lies not with you, the player. It belongs to the other."

Well-written and highly imaginative, "The Parrot Tavern" offers an adventure-love story that at times evokes laughter, at other times quiet thoughts.
