Author Denis Hodson offers a fun, purposeful book which reiterates the importance of education to children. The Nature People: The Meeting is set in the olden times and follows the adventures of a boy named Nigel O'Flattery. Nigel's regret is that he knows many things about life but he cannot read books. Chosen by the Nature People to be the link to the Time People, his life is about to change for the better.

Nigel is born with extra-large ears. He lives alone in an old family cottage after his father and mother died some years ago. He has a keen sense of caring for all creatures and living things. His parents were able to teach him to hunt rabbits, fish salmon by hand and cook various dishes. He knew many things about living in the country life. But Nigel, as with most children in his place, never went to school. The small church schools in town were too far away. He hopes that one day he could read and write about his own life.

One morning, he is drawn by a humming sound in the middle of the woods. Nigel meets Millie, a strange human-like creature he has never set eyes before with bright, expressive blue eyes. One of the Nature People, Millie introduces herself to him. This is when Nigel learns that he is the one chosen by the Nature People to communicate with. Although from two different worlds, they become true friends. Millie becomes his guide and imparts to him indispensable wisdom of great and practical use in life.

This purposeful picture book is designed to hone the reading interests and imagination of children while taking them to an exciting, fantasy world. The Nature People: The Meeting puts emphasis on learning and education through the creative use of an easy-to-follow plot and vibrant pictures that will fascinate children down to the very last page.

About the Author
Denis Hodson's first love is a storytelling. With the assistance of his eldest son, the artist, he is now able to tell stories to young people once again. Hodson served for five years on naval ships as an electrical engineer in the British Royal Navy during the 1939-1945 war. This was followed by teacher training at Alsager in England. He was then commissioned and served twenty years in the British Army. These duties were principally in military training in various parts of the world. Retirement came at an early age and South Africa was the attraction for himself, his wife and their four children. He has now retired for a second time as a manufacturer in the steel and brass industry.
