Kissimmee, Fla.

What began as a story author Christina Fernandez typed into her phone on her morning commute evolved into the new novel, "The Million Dollar Story: An Unexpected Ending" (published by iUniverse).

The story centers on TC - a woman who feels pulled on all sides by the demands of her job as a mail carrier, her dreams to play basketball and her convoluted love life. Her beautiful girlfriend, Samantha, is a cop. Jealousy is rampant between the two as a result of their open relationship. TC isn't the only one feeling the strains of an unconventional relationship.

Jay, TC's best friend, considers himself a ladies' man. That is, he did, until he met Carly. Now, he begins to wonder if Carly is his one and only. Carly has some secrets, though. She only recently started living her life as a woman.

"The thing that makes my story different is that not only does it touch on all aspects of the LGBT community, but it is relatable," Fernandez says.

Love, life and relationships in the 21st century are revealed in "The Million Dollar Story."
