In his book, The Message of Pain: A Whisper of Hope, Gavin Hooks writes about the phenomenon of pain and its causes, effects and meaning in the context of a Christian worldview. Hooks offers insight into how a past painful experience can negatively influence behavior and decisions. He also provides guidance in healing.

His goal is to help Christians and non-Christians alike articulate a clear understanding of why there is evil in this world and how to avoid the harm that comes with it.
