THE HORROR! THE HORROR! Book Signing and Discussion To be Held, 4/7

After Baltimore, MD author Harrison Demchick launched his debut novel, The Listeners, at Towson's Ukazoo Books on December 17, 2012-the biggest event in the history of the store-both he and store manager Matthew Shenko knew there had to be another event.

That event, "THE HORROR! THE HORROR! Discussion and Book Signing," will take place this Sunday, April 7 at 1 p.m.

Demchick will be joined by four other accomplished horror authors for a discussion on writing and the horror genre. The event is described by Ukazoo as "a discussion/reading/scare-a-thon consisting of local horror authors who've done good."

"It's a terrific collection of writers who have done a lot more for the genre than I have," says Demchick. "Outside of going to a horror convention, there is no better opportunity to meet, talk with, and learn from horror writers. And it's free!"

Headlining the group is Thomas F. Monteleone, a Baltimore native whose work includes The Blood of the Lamb, The Mothers and Fathers Italian Association, and Fearful Symmetries. All three titles won the Bram Stoker Award, the definitive award for horror writing.

Alongside Monteleone will be Towson's own Damien Walters Grintalis, whose debut novel, Ink, launched in December. The novel follows an acclaimed editorial and short fiction career.

The other two authors are Jeffrey Wilson and Matthew Warner. Wilson has received terrific response for his supernatural thrillers The Traiteur's Ring and The Donors, and his next book, Fade to Black, launches later this year. Warner's work includes The Organ Donor and Blood Born, alongside the short film Opposites Attract.

Demchick notes that the event could not have come together without the help of Brian Freeman, managing editor at Cemetery Dance magazine, the definitive horror publication that runs out of nearby Forest Hill, MD.

"It's great to have the horror community and the Horror Writers Association behind us," Demchick says. "It's been instrumental in putting together an event that, hopefully, will entertain a lot of people and help a lot of writers."

Shenko and the Ukazoo staff will be providing coffee, tea, and refreshments. All involved authors will be signing books. The event begins Sunday, April 7 at 1 p.m., and continues until there are no more questions left to ask.

Ukazoo Books is located at 730 Dulaney Valley Road.
