Menasha, Wis.

Having attended seminary and been a pastor for six years, questions haunted author Dan R. Mitchell, who felt the need to express his musings through the written word. "The Hidden Jesus" (published by Xlibris) is the result, a book that aims to shake readers' faith in Christ by portraying his human aspects rather than his divine attributes.

Mitchell gathers information from reputable sources to change readers' mental image of Jesus, going past the modern belief that makes him into a God and looking at who he was as a man, what happened to him during his formative years in a realistic sense, rather than a mythic one. Nonetheless, the author weaves an engaging drama of a grand scale embedded with enlightening themes, telling an amazing story of how he lived on after the events in the New Testament.

"We fail to see the struggles of a normal man in a Jewish life," Mitchell says.

While the narrative text struggles to remain true to the Gospel, it also uses information of recent discoveries. "The Hidden Jesus" leaves readers wondering just what has come to light in the selective texts of the Bible and why other texts have not been put in the Bible by what the author describes as "a faith that wanted only a God and not a man."
