Author Monowar Zaman believes that there is no clear direction from mainstream economic theories to a sustainable economy. "Green the Capitalists" (published by AuthorHouse) shows readers that the world's industrial civilization is now riding on financial capitalism and is irreversibly and progressively damaging the environment and exhausting its lifeblood fossil fuel reserves. "It has taken off of the ground and is headed to its tragic end, just like a moth to a flame," Zaman warns.
"My inspiration came from the hope that we should be able to leave a sustainable earth for our future generations in an economic way," Zaman explains. "However, we need to provide them with enough information and the right strategy so that they can champion making our earth a better living place for mankind."
The book is ultimately Zaman's personal quest for a unified economic theory that can explain economic and political history, as well as address the current economic challenges, including poverty, financial crisis, peak oil consumption and climate change.
In this book, Zaman proposes a strategy for a massive switch-over from the existing growth-based economy to a sustainable economy through an unbiased vertical learning process by bringing the existing and potential sufferers, and eventually everyone, under a common economic framework, while solving their economic problems in real time.
By introducing a number of new theories and concepts, Zaman hopes "changes [will] be seen everywhere in an economy from a small village community to the downtown financial industry. Like J.F. Kennedy's definition of peace, 'sustainability' is also [a] 'sum of many acts,' 'dynamic, not static' and a process-a way of solving problems."
