The Fairfield Industrial High School is situated in the North Central portion of Alabama in the county of Jefferson. It has edified thousands of children through the years-and teaching them to celebrate their blackness. She has produced exceptional apprentices, notable educators and successful individuals who excel in their own fields-and eventually commit to serve others. The Fruits of His Labor by author John B. Davis is an inspirational biographic account that highlights the true story of one man who made success of the people in Fairfield possible.
Professor Edmond Jefferson Oliver provided tremendous contributions and inspiration to the lives of the children in FIHS and the community through his vision of educating the Black people in the Black community. He was instrumental in making them proud of their color and inspired them to make a difference in the world. This book pays tribute to the notable works of Prof. Oliver and his vision. It recounts how he dedicated himself to serving and inspiring his people, especially his students, to embrace education, understand their true purpose and become inspirations to others. The book also enfolds some stories of the graduates of FIHS-the fruits of his labor-who are living proofs of his selfless pledge to service and good direction. The Fruits of His Labor is a vivid depiction of how he planted the seeds, nurtured them and watched them grow as good people with honesty, sincerity and dignity.
A ravishing tale of life, duty and commitment, this intimate and masterfully written book is the much-anticipated biography of a great visionary, told by one of the country's famous educators. The stories and testimonies will surely give hope, encouragement and strength to the readers as they pursue their dreams-regardless of their differences.
