Steve Frost was 19 when he woke from a dream that would change his world. In the dream, he spent an entire lifetime in a watery world after being rescued by a mermaid who was his One True Love. Just before waking, she promised, "I will find you again, where the river meets the sea." He would spend the next nine years haunted by and searching for his mermaid, to no avail. Steve's world would come crashing down again in 1988 when he met Christine Waters in the little town of Seaview, Washington, where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean. Upon meeting, her very first words to him were, "Where have you been? I have been waiting for you..."

Some of us gave up on 'faerie tale love' not long after giving up on Santa Claus.
