Author Gloria Robinson faced the difficulties of kidney disease before receiving a donor kidney. This experience got her thinking of the drama that could be created by accepting a stranger's kidney. She used her insights into the medical process to write her new novel, "The Donor" (published by iUniverse).

Judith Somers is going through kidney failure and must undergo dialysis three times a week. She is suffering through it when Bob, a coworker, offers to donate his kidney to her. She is thrilled by the offer, but also finds it strange - she doesn't know Bob that well. "The Donor" takes readers through Judith's difficult decision and shows things aren't always as they seem.

An excerpt from "The Donor":

"This is not what was supposed to happen. I was not supposed to be terrorized because I had accepted a kidney from someone who now regretted his decision. I was supposed to have a new and wonderful life. Instead, my life was in shambles. All I wanted to do was crawl into bed and pull the covers over my face."
