VOORHEES, N.J.
Viral news in 2015 shows protests to police killings of black men; a television network firing a host for racist remarks; middle school basketball players defending the victim of bullies; and a university shutting down a racist fraternity. Author Valerie Christopher sees from backlash to the discrimination that people want to change the cultural acceptance of critical and precarious issues.
"The Bridge Paradigm: A Spiritual Path to Un-Fooling Ourselves and Social Responsibility" acts as a model for those who recognize the need for cultural/societal revamping as a remedy for inequality and injustice.
"In the book, I share tangible concepts, ideas, scenarios and discussions that are very much a part of what many people have observed, are experiencing or have encountered," Christopher said.
Christopher finds that individuals are systemically conditioned and corrupted by multiple influences very early in their lives. In "The Bridge Paradigm", she discusses how to address and heal the various stages of affectedness in all people. Christopher also presents how to prevent being overwrought or stimulated by those factors going forward to become socially accountable and advance civilization.
"True, lasting, positive transformation requires constant environmental vigilance, personal introspection and individual accountability," Christopher said. "Positive thinking is not enough."
Christopher and her book "The Bridge Paradigm" will be featured at the 2015 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books in Los Angeles, April 18-19, 2015. For more information, visit http://www.valeriechristophercollection.com.
