Mike Schober's new book, The Accidental Free Society - A Historical and Modern Worldview of Dictators, Democracies, Terrors, and Utopias, ($16.49, paperback, 9781498458627; $8.99, e-book, 9781498464314) leads readers along a shocking journey through the development of power in government, from the first rulers in Ancient Egypt to today's political leaders. From the Scorpion King to Stalin and Mao, Schober unveils to readers people's love of the dictator and their pursuit of power. Coupled with this discussion of dictatorship, the author also analyzes the pursuit of freedom and the establishment of the free society in Britain, America, and elsewhere. What circumstances made democracy possible in a world filled with dictatorships? Schober's book provides the answer.

This book educates readers on what needs to be done today to ensure democracy and human rights are secure for future generations. The author drives home three key ideas in the book's three sections: • All government tends toward dictatorship • Democracy, historically a rare anomaly, requires unusual circumstances to develop • The Modern Age will be marked by the constant struggle of democracies and dictators. Relevant to today's headlines, the book's timeless message shows how ISIS and Putin are part of a pattern repeated throughout mankind's sad history.

"This is the "go to" book for the dangers of big government," states the author. "No other book explains why all governments tend to expand over time and threaten freedom. Anyone concerned about growing government power should buy this book. It should appeal to both Libertarians and Conservatives."

Mike Schober is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy (1977) and has a Master of Science in Engineering.
