Before Vietnam was on America's radar, the CIA had its eyes on promising young military men for special assignments. Jim Coleman, a young man at loose ends and without direction, joins the Marines in 1962. He makes a name for himself on the rifle range with his amazing skill.
A Navy commander, who is also a military liaison with the CIA, notices Jim's sharpshooting abilities and signs him up for undercover work with the agency. Jim soon joins the CIA's most elite section, which is so secretive that it's known only to the most powerful men in government.
From Southeast Asia to the Caribbean, Jim becomes a key figure in Cold War politics and is sent to fight his country's enemies. But he soon finds himself fighting an even bigger battle with the enemy within. He tries to reconcile his beliefs, his values, but with each assignment it becomes more and more difficult. Can he survive the real-life dangers as well as his inner demons?
"Tears of an Assassin" is the first installment in the new fiction series "An Unforgettable Trilogy."
