Theatre Communications Group (TCG) today announced the publication of Tony Kushner's critically acclaimed screenplay for Lincoln, now a major motion picture directed by Steven Spielberg. Based in part on Pulitzer Prize-winning author Doris Kearns Goodwin's book, Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln, the published screenplay of Lincoln, available in both paperback and a limited edition hardcover, contains a Foreword by Kearns Goodwin and eight pages of color photos from the film.

Mr. Kushner will join Abraham Lincoln scholar Harold Holzer for a virtual book signing at the Abraham Lincoln Book Shop in Chicago on February 15, 2013 at 4 PM. The private event, for which you can order a book to be signed by Mr. Kushner, will be live-streamed on the shop's website. A decade-long collaboration between three-time Academy Award winner Steven Spielberg and the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Angels in America, Tony Kushner, Lincoln is a revealing drama that focuses on the 16th President's tumultuous final months in office. Having just won re-election in a country divided, Lincoln pursues a course of action designed to end the war, unite the country and abolish slavery. With the moral courage and fierce determination to succeed, his choices during this critical moment will change the fate of America, and generations, to come.

The DreamWorks film, which opened in wide release in the U.S. on November 16, 2012, stars two-time Academy Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis as the 16th U.S. President and two-time Academy Award winner Sally Field as his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln. Lincoln, which leads this year's Academy Awards with 12 nominations including Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay, has received the AFI Award for Movie of the Year and the New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best Screenplay. Its other nominations include the BAFTA Awards for Adapted Screenplay and Best Film.

Tony Kushner's plays include Angels in America, Parts One and Two; A Bright Room Called Day; Slavs!; Homebody/Kabul; Caroline, or Change, a musical with composer Jeanine Tesori; and The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures. He wrote the screenplays for Mike Nichols' film of Angels in America and for Steven Spielberg's Munich. Kushner is the recipient of a Pulitzer Prize, two Tony Awards, three Obie Awards, two Evening Standard Awards, an Olivier Award, an Emmy Award and an Oscar nomination, among other honors. In 2008, he was the first recipient of the Steinberg Distinguished Playwright Award.
