Author Susie Gingrich has known hardships in her life, but she rose above the horrors. She shares her inspiring story in the book, "But for the Grace of God" (published by WestBow Press), for which she is now making a new marketing push.
"It is very Canadiana and country and educational about Mennonites," Gingrich says, adding that she uses a pseudonym due to sensitive issues in the book. "It has suspense, romance and tragedy and fun."
"But for the Grace of God" specifically targets difficult topics, like abuse and mental illness, while exploring the Mennonite way of life and other topics that Gingrich hopes make the book both entertaining and helpful.
An excerpt from "But for the Grace of God":
After I was raped, I began exhibiting rather strange behavior and became manic-depressive, or bipolar as it is called now. I did not tell anyone what had happened. I felt too dirty and cheated. My parents took me to their doctor because mine wasn't available. He told them that their daughter was just a spoiled brat.
