In "Among Hibiscus and Roses: A Retired Nurse's Memoir" (published by iUniverse), author Sun-Hae Kim regales readers with stories about the challenges of being an army nurse, and the fun times she had with her fellow nurses.

Readers are invited into stories about Kim's time being a nurse in South Korea and the United States. They follow her through not so rosy times as she deals army personnel in the South Korean military to her cultural transition coming to America. Each tale comes from a wealth of knowledge gained over 37 years of being a professional nurse.

An excerpt from the book:

"Frankly speaking, nurse's work is not hard labor, but a nurse's job is not easy because a nurse has to work ceaselessly while on duty. At our young age, we were educated about life-or-death, split-second, and decisive situation preparation and experience through nursing. It is not an overstatement that the nurse's body is young but the mind is old."

"'Among Hibiscus and Roses' is not your usual nurse's tell-all book," says Kim. "This book describes a unique and out-of-the-ordinary life journey I took to become the person I am today."
