Summer Dee's "A Scorned Woman" is a hybrid memoir and psychological thriller, all based on real events, the true story of the author's descent into "livid hell" when his ex-wife became obsessed with revenge, when her only goal in life became the destruction of her ex-husband at all costs. The worst price in the harrowing proceedings was the one paid by the innocent-namely the author's son by his ex-wife...

The tragic, even criminal, circumstances of the author and his ex-wife's sad, brutal custody battle for their son capped a series of events that defined the first part of his life. Dee, a leader with strong convictions and an independent child, grew up with plenty of freedom-but it was a freedom that, because of his mother's death when he was very young, turned him on to drugs and hanging out with a gang. It was the first of his uninformed decisions which turned life harsh and full of difficult, life-and-death decisions.

In Dee's story, not only will readers view a close-up of child custody drama and its seamier side, they will get the almost day-to-day development of an intelligent, conscientious young person who turned, due to innocence, pain and survivor guilt, into the worst paths a young man of his caliber could take. Paradoxically, it was preparation for the worst part of the journey: that of getting hooked up with the wrong woman, and the subsequent trial of faith and sanity that she put him through.

In time, Summer Dee emerges as his own savior, someone whose inherent morality rises above the turbulence and finds the path back to rightness. Through his journey, he shares a memorable, lesson-filled "season of madness" that he analyzes and deconstructs for the benefit of today's children, when they themselves are on the verge of entering that same season. The author, though, is not a saint by default-the lessons he shares he paid for in all the used-up and angry years of his young life-and this is how is able to come through as a real, believable voice that survived an especially virulent type of teenage trauma in America.

About the Author
Born in Fall River, Massachusetts and raised in the suburbs of Swansea Massachusetts, Summer Dee is a product of a single parent household. After he lost his mother at eight years of age in a car accident, his father (a hardworking shipping and receiving manager) was forced to raise him and his younger brother on his own. Because of this, the author became a heavy, habitual drinker (from twelve years old onward) but this did not stop him from going through the motions of doing what intelligent people like him were supposed to be doing. In the end, his strength, courage and determination made him survive to become a mature person. His story is a compelling one, filled with the hard but redemptive lessons that today's youth would do well to learn from and so avoid reliving the author's own painful experience.
