JOHNS ISLAND, S.C.
In the midst of a world consumed by love, tragedy and wealth, man's search for meaning has never been more complicated than in the modern age.
In his new novel "Becoming Joey Fizz" (published by AuthorHouse), author Stuart A. McKeever shares the epic saga of an ordinary man doing extraordinary things to thrive in the hard-nosed epicenter of New York.
"The common person in the street is on a journey of survival," McKeever, a retired New York City attorney, says. "Finding the will to make life work for you after trauma is a fascinating thing."
His novel follows the journey of Joey Mancuso as he travels home from the Korean War and across the nation in search of his place in the world - eventually discovering, after failed dreams in Las Vegas, that he will have to make his life his own way.
A period piece, "Becoming Joey Fizz" depicts the struggles of life on a Native-American reservation, the pressure from the mob on the streets of New York City and the glittering Hollywood party scene in the 1950s and 1960s.

About the Author
Stuart A. McKeever is a retired attorney who began his law career in New York in the 1960s. His more than 40 years in the courts acquainted him with a menagerie of Runyon-esque characters, racketeers, top-shelf corporate executives, the literati and a potpourri of jazz musicians, many of whom provided inspiration for "Becoming Joey Fizz." "Becoming Joey Fizz" is McKeever's third book to be published, following "The Galindez Case" and "The President's Private Eye."
