The evening began with a holiday concert on Hollywood Blvd featuring Ashanti, the Band of Merrymakers, Blake Lewis, David Archuleta, Ruben Studdard performing Holiday carols. The parade kicked off with Grand Marshal Nancy O’Dell, co-host of Entertainment Tonight, and the USMC Band and included Congressman Adam Schiff, Council Members Mitch O’Farrell and David Ryu along with over 100 celebrities, marching bands and large parade balloons—a total of more than 5,000 participants—along the 2½ mile route.
Galaxy Press and Author Services, Inc. once again served as this year’s green room servicing over 400 guests and with over 100 media outlets lined up outside on the red carpet arrival line. Highlights of the parade included special presentations made by the parade hosts Laura McKenzie and Eric Estrada to President US Marine Corps Toys for Tots General Pete Osman, and President Galaxy Press John Goodwin, home of the parade green room and publisher of the Stories from the Golden Age.
