Inspired by the need for people to be able to identify true Christians, Steven and E. Sue Maugh offers a new book, "Characteristics of True Christianity" (published by AuthorHouse).

Steven and Sue recognize that judging should be left to God - their book takes a different perspective. The Bible says that Christians will produce "fruit" and that "fruit" is the form their character takes, so even if someone professes to be Christian, bad "fruit" or character will expose them otherwise.

"As the days appear to be getting more and more uncertain, Christians need the assurance of knowing who they can count on when times get tough," Steven shares. "It is too easy to be deceived and this will help sort out those who are not what they say they are." "Characteristics of True Christianity" provides regular, everyday people with the rules to follow in discerning whether someone is a Christian.

An excerpt from "Characteristics of True Christianity":

"You may not be an expert in knowing what species a tree is by its leaves or bark, but when you see an apple or a peach growing on the tree, you know in a heartbeat that it is an apple or a peach tree. When someone produces visible fruit (love, joy, peace, etc., or hate, strife, bitterness, etc.), you will recognize them for what they are."

The Maughs assert that how to tell a Christian from the "enemy, who seeks to kill, steal and destroy," is important. This leads to their conclusion that God has ordained his followers to be "fruit inspectors." Within the pages of "Characteristics of True Christianity," they identify what good fruit is supposed to look like and provide training in identifying the good fruit, emphasizing the importance of becoming a good fruit inspector.
