As a CEO and leadership scholar, Steven Mundahl has long wondered why leaders who have it all engage in behaviors that destroy their careers, family, and reputation. His new book, "The Alchemy of Authentic Leadership" (published by Balboa Press), guides leaders to examine their behaviors so that they can minimize their own risk. Readers benefit from Mundahl's stories of his own leadership journey along with the self-growth expertise of contributing author Sharon Massoth, a skilled psychotherapist and intuitive business coach.

The book describes the behavioral science reasons on why we take risks. It also offers techniques on becoming more self-aware as a leader. "Don't take charge of a company unless your own life is in good order. You will bring the disorder with you," Mundahl says. "A dispirited workforce and damaged corporate relationships can result." He adds that the book is for all leaders, not just those engaged in risky behavior. "We need to routinely review and improve all areas of our lives."

Along with fresh and original self-development strategies, Mundahl offers new ideas on how to use leadership skills to transform a negative corporate culture. In conclusion, he promotes seven essential tenets for authentic leadership. "True alchemy happens as we become an ethical leader of our own lives. We then can lead with passion and purpose."
