Star magazine announced today that Cheryl Kramer Kaye has been named Beauty/Fashion Director effective January 13, 2011. Kramer Kaye will have responsibility over the brand's ever-growing beauty, fashion and lifestyle editorial.

In making the announcement, Candace Trunzo, Editor in Chief of Star, said, "I am so excited about Cheryl joining us at Star. She is one of the most respected and talented editors in the industry and will add a great new dimension to our beauty and fashion coverage."
Kramer Kaye joins Star from Redbook, where she served as beauty director since 2001 and brings with her a passionate energy as well as strong industry relationships. During her tenure there she originated the MVP Awards which have blossomed into a yearly celebration of the beauty industry's best products. Prior to Redbook, Cheryl spearheaded the beauty editorial at Fitness.
"As a long-time reader and fan of Star, I couldn't be more thrilled to join the team. Celebrities reign as the fashion and beauty trend-setters, and where better to see those trends up close and personal than in a gorgeous glossy?" comments Kramer Kaye.

Along with Kramer Kaye, other important staff changes include the promotion of Taryn Adler from Beauty/Fashion Editor to Beauty/Fashion Associate Director and Katie Livanos from Beauty/Fashion Assistant Editor to Beauty/Fashion Editor. Adler has been with Star for the past five years; Livanos has been with AMI since 2007. Trunzo notes, "Both women have proved to be invaluable to the magazine. They are critical members of the team and with Cheryl's direction; there are no limits on what we can accomplish."

Thanks in part to its expanded beauty and fashion coverage, Star has enjoyed an 18% increase in advertising pages in 2010 through November according to PIB, outperforming both People and Us Weekly by a considerable margin.
