South African researcher, socio-political analyst and author Chiziwiso Pswarayi, will debut his collection of novellas, "I bled on the pages" on 20 May 2016. After finding that there was not a great deal of books written about third culture kids by third culture kids from developing regions. 'Third Culture' is a term usually used to refer to children who are raised in a culture outside of their parents' culture for significant part of their development years.
Chiziwiso over the last 18 months has cataloguing his experiences, whilst completing a Masters level thesis on the effects of international school education on children in Cardiff, Wales before relocating back to South Africa where he completed the novellas and works as a researcher and socio-political analyst. In addition, Chiziwiso is author of "Dislocated African" an online blog dedicated to helping other third cultured kids cope with identity issues resulting from frequent travel.
Set in South Africa, United Kingdom, Italy, France and China "Fake African" is a contemporary memoire based on Chiziwiso's experiences living in these countries, coping with continuous lack of identity. When Chiziwiso meets his partner with whom he wishes to spend his life, Chiziwiso must find out who he believes himself to be, no matter if he is accepted by the place he lives. When he discovers who he thought he was is not what his homeland sees him to be, the results could be deadly.
"The Agent," the second novella in the collection is a quirky story about M. an Ethiopian migrant living in Spain. A real estate agent, he is recently made redundant and needs one big deal before moving on. Routinely belittled for being a migrant, does he have what it takes to close one more deal? What is he willing to do to guarantee one more pay check in a country that doesn't want him and home that threatens his existence?
