In this coming-of-age story, Chaim Linder arrives in the United States as a young man to start anew and free himself from the chains of a religiously contemplative life. Coming at the height of an economic crisis in 1929, and a few years before WWII, he struggled for money at first but soon found his footing in the country and eventually started his own family.
After retiring, Chaim began his memoir over the span of 20 years. Now, his son Mark Linder proudly shares his father’s story in a creative and dramatic novel format.
“One of the themes of the memoir is that the world has a place for everyone,” Linder explained. “It is by preparation, education and constant exploration that the individual man, woman and child will find that place.
One Amazon reviewer writes of “Angels Always Come on Time”: “When I learned of this book, I expected an amateurish re-telling of a family's history. What I just finished is a 700+ page saga told with style, emotion, and a deep empathy for the characters… The author conveys the incredible depth of his family's Jewish faith and their dedication to its preservation.”
With wit and insight, Chaim and Mark Linder tell a story of lives full of passion, emotion, humor and hope in “Angels Always Come on Time.”

About the author
Chaim Linder was born in Jerusalem in 1907, one of seven children in an orthodox Jewish family that lived just outside Jerusalem’s walls in Batei Warsaw. In 1929, he left Jerusalem for America, taught himself English and became a trilingual linotypist. In New York, he met an émigré from Jerusalem. They married and moved to Brooklyn, where they raised a family of four sons. Chaim retired in 1972 and began working on his memoir. Now, twenty years after his death, Mark Linder, a professional writer and Chaim’s son, has brought Chaim’s story to life in “Angels Always Come On Time.” To learn more, please visit http://www.JerusalemaHasidicBoysTale.com/.
