The new e-book "10,000 Babies: My life in the delivery room" (published by AuthorHouse) from author and health professional Silvio Aladjem M.D. is a recollection of a career spent with newborns and expectant mothers.
"10,000 Babies" is a compilation of true events in the life of an obstetrician and his patients, presented as short stories. These stories range from very early pregnancy to the birth of triplets, from the anguish of not knowing if a baby will be born prematurely to the unusual case where a mother thought that she was pregnant when she was not.
An excerpt from "10,000 Babies":
"If a pregnancy is not normal, somebody must be at fault. Since women, not men, have the babies, it follows that it must be the woman's fault. A woman is also brainwashed to the idea that pregnancy is always normal and she, therefore, feels guilty when she does not have a normal pregnancy. There is no guilty party, and of all involved, it is certainly not the mother's fault. Our society must start speaking openly about the fact that, sometimes, pregnancy is not normal. Mothers need support, not guilt."
Aladjem hopes that his experience will bring peace to readers' minds. He wants to remind them that pregnancy complications are part of life, that the woman is not the guilty party and that complications can be taken care of.
