Working as a nanny, author Rhoda Sye witnesses how subliminal messages and positive reinforcement encourage children of all ages. "Silly Monkey" (published by AuthorHouse) promotes good behavior in a format that is easy for both preschool and school-aged children to read.
Monkey knows how to behave, but he wants to know the reaction he'll get from doing things his way. This rhyming short story offers a lesson from a fun, likable and colorful character. Over the course of the book, Monkey figures out that the things his mommy and daddy teach him warrant a pleasant reaction from others, versus being silly.
From the back cover of "Silly Monkey":
"It's fun to be silly. Go on - give it a try,
as long as you're safe and a grown-up's nearby.
Using good manners makes you as sweet as can be.
Good behavior and manners make everyone pleased."
Young readers can be aware of their behavior "as early as three or four," Sye says. She continues, "'Silly Monkey' gives parents and children a reminder that it's ok to be silly, but it's also good to cooperate."
