GREY'S ANATOMY showrunner and creator Shonda Rhimes is heading to the literary world.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the acclaimed television drama guru has inked her first book deal with Simon & Schuster, and is set to release a memoir in 2015.
The project will chronicle Rhimes' life prior to creating ABC's mega-hit medical series, following her decision "to build a family and the challenges of being a single mother while striving for professional success."
Simon & Schuster coyly describes the work as "part memoir, part inspiration, part prescription."
"I have made a lot of mistakes as a single mother, and as a working mother, and as a sleepless mother, and as a dating mother," Rhimes said in a statment. "And I did all of it while running a bunch of TV shows. So I'm going to write about that and hope my kids don't use it against me in therapy later."
"Shonda Rhimes is bar none in the storytelling realm," Simon & Schuster Vice-President and Editor-in-Chief Marysue Rucci added. "Now fans of her phenomenal shows can read Shonda's story in her own words - and marvel at how Shonda built a phenomenal career. Readers everywhere will cheer the fearless decisions Shonda has made to achieve happiness."
Aside from GREY'S, Rhimes has also created its spin-off series Private Practice and Scandal for the Alphabet network
