"Women Preachers Forbidden or Not?" (published by Trafford Publishing) is the question author Shirley Holmes-Sulton answers in her book, wherein she expounds on the most women in the Bible in order to "help eradicate the myth that women shouldn't pastor or serve in any position, usurping authority over men."

Holmes-Sulton says that there are over 120 women in the Bible and demonstrates the preeminent roles they played in both the Old and the New Testaments. She also explains that in the Scripture, the role men play in serving God is mentioned more than woman. At the same time, it still shows that women can be leaders in the religious world. By bringing these examples to the forefront and emphasizing them, she offers readers everywhere an empowering and affirming scriptural basis for furthering women's roles in Christianity, asserting themselves in religious hierarchies and ushering in women preachers.

"Now I don't have any problems with men being the head, because they are ordained by God to be the head, and I love it. But that doesn't mean a woman can't be in leadership with authority over men," Holmes-Sulton explains. "Leadership isn't about giving orders but about working in harmony to accomplish common goals. Our common goal should be to please our God."
