Sherry Reed, a first time author, has completed her new book "The Life of Rocky & Friends": a gripping and potent story of the lives that were saved after hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans.
Reed shares, "When Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005, New Orleans really suffered, however, we found a ray of hope when we rescued our first two baby squirrels abandoned by their mom a week before. These two were the first two of a total of nine baby squirrels we rescued and raised until they were old enough to release. We were successful with most of them, but not so lucky with a few. Having some writing experience, I decided to write this book just to share some of the fun we had, as well as the sad times, raising these four-footed, fuzzy, little, baby squirrels."
Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Sherry Reed's inspiring tale shows how a big heart, patience, and determination can change the destiny of nine little squirrels. From the very first scream heard from the very first baby squirrel they found, they became hooked on helping this little abandoned creature of God. Then there were many more to come, each one with their own personality, each one cuter than the other. However, Rocky, being the first one acquired, became Louie's favorite. They went everywhere in the yard together. Wherever Louie went, it was certain that Rocky was on his shoulder hitching a free ride. When she would get sleepy, she would climb down to his pocket and she stayed there until she woke up. When she would see him in the morning she would dance and make sounds for him to come get her. When her brother showed up two days later she didn't mind sharing Louie with him. They were very close and were very happy to be together again. There were many more after those two little ones that the family took in to raised, watching them grow.
"This is just a glimpse of what is in store for you as you too will get hooked on reading about the nine squirrels that passed through our lives back in 2005 to 2012," concludes Author Sherry Reed.
Readers who wish to experience this mesmerizing work can purchase "The Life of Rocky & Friends" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
