A mother's love will always be the truest and the most unconditional love any daughter or son can have. Author Sherry Anne Coombe best depicts this kind of motherly love in her first book, "My Porcelain Doll".
Aiming to inspire and to strengthen mothers who had similar trials as her, Coombe wrote her first book as a poignant tribute to her late daughter Heather. It is a moving memoir about walking side by side with Heather through her struggles and triumphs in fighting cancer. She traces and looks back at the journey they shared through the toughest times and the sweetest moments they had. She remembers and gets inspiration from the words of her daughter which says:
"Then came a bunch of words like aggressive, really bad, tumor, spinal taps and on and on. Of course it still didn't sink in how bad he thought it was until he started talking about transplant team and City Of Hope. I knew then I was a really sick lil gal. I think that was the first time I was really, truly scared that it might be too late." ~Heather Coombe
This book is a closer look at blood cancer, a number one killer in the world today but is mentioned very little, with treatments at a slow speed of advancement. The author wants to stress that cancer in children is the number one killer of parents' precious treasures, and more needs to be done for research of this deadly disease. Presented with nearly 100 photos of her and her daughter, Coombe's work tells a very personal, vivid description of what it is like to be a mother and watch her daughter go through cancer and give a face to the names.
"My Porcelain Doll" mirrors Coombe's intimate and genuine love for her daughter. This literary work is a moving, inspiring story of hope, joy, sadness and letting go that only a mother could write. It has the ability to move hearts and inspire all mothers and children out there.
