Author Shelby Knobloch struggled with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) while growing up. She found herself lagging behind her peers academically, but, when she was given a sketch pad, she found that she had a talent that not everyone could master. She discovered that everyone excels at something, so she was inspired to write this book to spread that word that "Everyone Sparkles in Their Own Way" (published by Xlibris).

The book tells the story of a little girl, Carrie and her mom. Carrie is not doing very well at school. Her classmates were doing a lot better than she did. It takes her mother to show her that everyone sparkles in their own way and helps her discover her special talent.

Told along with beautiful illustrations, "Everyone Sparkles in Their Own Way" presents a story from a youthful perspective, which makes it easily relatable to a young audience. "Everyone has strengths and weaknesses," says Knobloch. It is her hope that this book will inspire youths much like her to discover what those strengths are and learn how to shine.
