Tough Chicagoan Henry Fox is a disappointment to many around him - including himself. His career in insurance fraud investigation has been nothing but grunt work and minor arson scams, and his personal life is not much better. Imagine his surprise when he's assigned to investigate a scuba diver who has gone missing just weeks after buying an insurance policy. The case creates an unforgettable adventure in this new award-winning book released by Dog Ear Publishing.

Everyone wishes Henry, who's pushing 30, would do more with his life. His Mohawk grandfather wants him to embrace his American Indian roots, his friends want him to fully commit to his girlfriend, and his boss wishes he'd be more predictable and toe the company line. Things change when he's unexpectedly assigned to find out what might have happened to Ray Maliff, who disappeared during a dive off Catalina Island in California. His fate is Henry's problem because Ray had just bought an insurance policy for $250,000, worth double if he dies in an accident.

Despite his surprise at being given the case and the motives behind the assignment, Henry plunges in; but he doesn't have all the information, he learns to his surprise, and Ray's widow is not what he expected. Mobsters from Vegas with ties to Chicago make their presence known, and the bodies begin piling up. Henry finds life beginning to go his way, thanks to a change, but the case refuses to go away. It will take all of Henry's cunning - and that of his new partner - to resolve it and leave murder in their wake.

"In Murder's Wake" takes readers on an unforgettable adventure set against the backdrop of 1960s Chicago, glamorous Las Vegas and gritty Los Angeles, and it's earning rave reviews.

"The Southside of Chicago's 1950s comes alive in this entertaining and fast-paced action/thriller," writes John Shehorn, author of "Unexpected Hero."

"Follow Detective Henry Fox as he stumbles through criminal investigations utilizing brawn more than brains," writes Sheli Ellsworth, book critic and author of "The Psychoanalysis of Everyday Life. "A truly exciting read."

Weinstein, who was born and raised on Chicago's Southside, now lives in Oxnard, Calif. This is the second book in Weinstein's Henry Fox series. "Left Cross" was the first.
