On December 2, Shannon Polly and Kathryn Britton will discuss their recently launched book, 'Character Strengths Matter: How to Live a Full Life'. The event, which will be held in Arlington at 6:30 pm, is part of Busboys and Poets' Wellness Revolution series and is co-sponsored by Think Local First DC and Positive Business DC.
The book honors the late Christopher Petersen whose research has shown that character strengths are ubiquitous across culture and time. Within the book, there are stories, research explanations, read aloud passages, and tangible exercises to help people leverage their character strengths for higher performance and happiness.
Many acclaimed authors have endorsed the book including Martin E. P. Seligman, author of 'Authentic Happiness', Tal Ben-Shahar, author of 'Happier', and Barbara Fredrickson, author of 'Positivity'.
"This is among the best books in all of positive psychology," writes Jon Haidt author the 'The Happiness Hypothesis'. "It takes one of the most important areas of research - the character strengths - and makes it as accessible, as practical, as inspiring as could be. I particularly love that it is written for sharing. Every couple and every family should have a copy."
The event is free and will be held at 6:30 pm on December 3, 2015 at Busboys and Poets, 4251 Campbell Ave, Arlington, Virginia 22206. Free appetizers will be provided. Authors Shannon Polly and Kathryn Britton will be available after the discussion to sign books. Proceeds from the book go to the Christopher Peterson Memorial Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania
