About the Author
Andrew J. da Silva was born in New York City in 1931. He studied and worked with the Gurdjieffian ideas under the direction of Dr. William Nyland who was given permission by Gurdjieff himself to teach and work with his ideas. Mr. da Silva strove with intense contemplation and physical efforts to penetrate and embody the spirit and ideas from that mysterious monastery situated somewhere in the Urals-predating the time of Moses-and from which Gurdjieff received and passed on his extraordinary theory of the Octave.
