LANGLEY, British Columbia

Following the initiation of Tinay, chronicled in the first book of Tinay, The Warrior Princess series, author Sonya Roy releases the sequel to the story with "The Apprentice" (published by Xlibris). This time, the young protagonist struggles to master the sacral chakra and fulfill her destiny against the evil queen.

Tinay is now a 15-year-old girl starting her apprenticeship as an artist on the Atlantis survivor colony, planet Os. Separated from her family, she discovers how the evil queen's decisions have led society to disaster. She witnesses poverty, hunger, diseases, along with the privileged and gluttons. She gets her first glimpse of the evil queen and gets in contact with the members of the resistance, innocently at first, but eventually falls into the dilemma of whether watching from the sidelines or joining in. She needs to figure out what she will fight for and whom to side with. Her confusion reaches a new height after she learns that her friend is condemned to death for reading a controversial poem supporting the resistance. She decides that should he die, his poem should be heard. With this, she takes her first step as a member of the resistance. Tinay will need to dig deep and help those she comes to know to save them from a horrible fate. She seeks to help heal the queen's victims, but is she strong enough to restore the realm's lost balance?

"The book series is based on the seven energy center of the body known as Chakras," Roy explains. "The second book is centralized around the sacral chakra. This Chakra is about appetites, desires, relationship and sexuality. For Tinay to become a warrior princess and defeat the Queen, she needs to master each chakra and keep them balanced. Throughout the series, she comes of age. Here, she learns about boundaries, respect, ideals, morals and making her own choices even if that makes her unpopular or a rebel."

Roy dedicates this book to the youth of today who, she believes, are in need of constant guidance and empowerment. She hopes that Tinay's story will help them realize their own potential and encourage them to live fully with curiosity, without fear and with more enthusiasm about themselves and the world.
