When the Titanic sunk, it not only became one of the worst maritime disasters in the world, it also caused pain and suffering for those survivors who lost their loved ones and had to continue raising their family on their own.

Coping with the loss of a loved one is what Scott Stevens, a Titanic enthusiast and author of "The Lost Deposition of Glynnis Smith McLean," addresses in his historical fiction novel. Stevens, examines this challenge individuals face through the eyes of McLean, who had to raise her son after the death of her husband on the Titanic.

"When we are in love, we believe that nothing is indestructible," Stevens said. "Unfortunately, tragedies happen that can significantly alter individuals' lives."

Through Glynnis' struggles, he aims to stress the burden that men and women face after losing someone close to them.

"I have always been interested in the sinking of the Titanic," Stevens said. "Many peoples' lives were forever changed as a result of the disaster."
