Scott Sedjo announces his new book, "Blood Lust" (published by Trafford Publishing), which combines the theory of genetic cloning with the rich and mysterious folklore of the vampire.
The story of an experiment in genetic engineering quickly takes on a life of its own, blurring the line between science and folklore as unforeseen variables refuse to be controlled. Dr. Brodiv and Jean, the creator and the created, clash as Jean asserts her will to survive, no matter how her life originated.
"I believe as the Greeks believed: that the unintended consequences of one's actions are as much, if not more, one's responsibility as that which was intended," Sedjo writes. "In this story, I attempt to explore some of those unintended consequences."
An excerpt from "Blood Lust":
"I did not sleep much over the next several nights. I was plagued with the image of the clone I had created. It was not Jean; it was the wolverine-woman crouching at the bottom of the stairs, with blood on her lips. How many victims had she taken, I wondered. A rhetorical question, I supposed. I had not created her for that; I was not sure anymore why I created her, but, at this moment, I was sure it was not for that."
"The more people understand about the universe, the more they know they do not know," Sedjo says.
