BERKELEY HEIGHTS, N.J.
After a sudden, unexpected and totally encompassing interruption of her former serenity, the author Sarah Smith Ducksworth, seeking a new direction and higher purpose, began to write poetry based on real life and her keen observations of real-life actors and events. The heartfelt poems that resulted from this venture fill the pages of her new book, "No Crystal Stair" (published by Trafford Publishing).
"The poems in this book came from a place of deep reflection," Ducksworth says. "I went metaphorically to the well of my experience to choose the most meaningful moments and the most powerful impressions stored in the deep waters of my life. These poems are therefore, heartfelt, if not perfect; and, for that reason, I feel they will appeal to others, who are as imperfect as I, and are also seeking truth and meaning in their lives."
"No Crystal Stair" is accessible in terms of language and relatable due to their treatment of a range of emotions - from joy to grief and everything in between. As Ducksworth tells her unique story and comments on distractions fueling 'man's inhumanity to man' through her poems, readers are invited to share in her journey, learn from her experiences and observations and possibly find catharsis in the process.
"No matter where one comes from and regardless of what happens to them in life," Ducksworth says, "there is always hope and the real possibility of claiming the joy and happiness they deserve if they focus on loved ones and on things that matter in the large scheme of things."
