'Sam the Scaredy Cat Dog' Gets New Marketing Campaign ImageDiana Duncan believes bullying is a huge problem for many kids and she decided to write "Sam the Scaredy Cat Dog" (published by Partridge Singapore in September of 2015), a children's rhyming picture book about a young girl whose timid dog Sam suddenly develops the courage to defend his young owner Cleo when she encounters bullies on her way to school.

Set for a new marketing campaign, the book tells the story of Cleo's dog named Sam; although enormous, he is a real wimp and is even scared of pint-sized dogs and cats! One day, however, he shows his true colors when he finds the courage to defend Cleo when bullies decide to pick on her as she skips off to school. He even lands himself a splendid daytime job.

"This is an amusing tale, told in appealing rhyming couplets," Duncan says. "But it also deals with a very serious contemporary problem that children encounter in their everyday lives: bullying. The story shows how animals can provide comfort to children facing problems or simply needing a cuddle!"

An excerpt from the book:

And suddenly, he felt as brave as could be.
As huge as a giant, as wild as the sea.
Enough was enough. No one bullied his mate!
He puffed up his cheeks; he sprang over the gate.
