MANCHESTER, England, Nov. 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ Few first-time writer's cause as much stir as novelist Sam Jane Brown. Her novel "Forgotten Word" has caused quite a controversy among readers and book clubs because of the very pointed and critical view the novel adopts towards the major religions of the world, in particular, Christianity. Although a fiction narrative, the novel does play with the darker side to this major world religion and stirs the pot in an already explosive global climate as people begin to question both their views of religion and what would replace it should it go away.

"I look at this history of religion and the history of governments and see so much bloodshed and waste that I'm not certain humanity will survive either for too much longer. My novel was meant to be purely fiction, but in all fiction there is an element of truth, we were born to be free and not slaves to our governments or to other organized doctrines. Are our world government's secretly thriving on the fact that nations are rising against nations all in the name of religion? This would then make way for a more substantial worked out procedure for the world government's alongside the United Nations to eradicate world religions."
Forgotten Word is the story of private investigator, Zena McGrath, who is chosen by the Vatican to look into what appears to be a link in several clergy deaths. Her pursuit of the killer turns into a bizarre confrontation of the supernatural and a long overdue conversation with her own personal beliefs. Her trail leads her to the Vatican with scenes of satanic worship within the Vatican walls by Vatican officials, which in turn leads to the Vatican slaughtering their own.
"I played with the idea of what an outright ban on religion would look like," Brown says. "I wanted to give people something to think about, and I think that conversation is timely. We look at the two largest world religions and their obvious conflict, and then how they react to the rise of secularism and it feels like a bomb waiting to go off."
While the book dives into the prophesies within the Book of Revelation it also acknowledges the dangers of the authoritarian systems building to replace religion and lets the readers ask themselves if they would be any better in the long run.
"I wanted to raise questions," she says. "Not that I have any solutions, myself. I think though the only way to find them is to begin asking and seeking."
