Pseudonymous author Salley has created a vibrantly illustrated picture book that will take young readers on a visual adventure to meet a group of magical animal "Best Friends" (published by Xlibris). By doing this, she seeks to convey invaluable life lessons to her audience and teach them the virtues of caring for animals.

In her book, Salley channels her childhood experiences, portraying the pets she took care of as a child and turning them into the titular "Best Friends." The cast of animal friends includes a playful hamster named George the Great, a chicken baptized as Chipper, a magical horse named Harmony, and Wikki the Lizard, along with many other curious creatures who brightened the author's youth. Her depictions of them are meant to pass on the happiness she felt as a child, so that her readers may also find joy through animal companionship.

With its colorful illustrations, and the author's engaging narrative, parents and teachers may find "Best Friends" to be a suitable book to engage and entertain their children.
