SEASON OF THE WITCH Author David Talbot Visits San Francisco Elks Lodge

On the evening of Thursday, April 25, 2013, San Franciscans were able to enjoy a rare opportunity to visit the members' only San Francisco Elks Lodge and have a drink with one of The City's literary greats, David Talbot. David is the founder of Salon.com, and the author of the book on San Francisco's turbulent past, Season of the Witch.

The event was a full house and Green Apple Books sold out of their available copies of "Season of the Witch". Co-founder of Green Apple, Kevin Hunsanger said, "I'm an Elk member and it is thrilling to bring together David, the Elks and Green Apple. We are all passionate about our city and its history, so it's a perfect fit."

Nasir Shakour, the Exalted Ruler of the San Francisco Lodge was at the event and had this to say: "It's great to have this opportunity to share our historic Lodge with people unfamiliar with the Elks. We have long been supporters of the arts in San Francisco and I'm excited Green Apple and David Talbot joined us today." The Exalted Ruler is the President of the Lodge who serves for a term of one year.

Live music at the event was provided by Ladies in Blouses. Proceeds from the event benefited the Elks Major Project Charity (also known as their "Purple Piggy Bank"). This charity helps children in California receive physical and occupational therapy and vision screening by providing a program of supporting services for these children at no cost to the families and without discrimination.
